QUALITY patterns that have been tested and preferably have pictures of the finished product on a person (not just laying flat)
http://www.knitty.com (com, not org) is a great site for patterns, as well as the others listed below.

I LOVE Lion Brand Yarn’s website. They have a lot of free patterns. A lot of different choices and items. The website is: http://www.lionbrand.com
They also have photos of the finished product and a gallery of customer’s finished products. Every photo I’ve viewed has been modeled by a real person.
All patterns are categorized by type of product as well as skill level.
Happy knitting!

Depends on what you’re looking for.
Knitty.com is good
About.com has some decent stuff too
Also, the yarn companies (like Lion Brand) have some decent patterns as well.

Has lots of patterns, but pictures look abit outdated. All patterns use lion brand yarns.

Good pictures, and nice layout. They have a bunch of knitting articles, too.
