I’m knitting bibs from “Mason-Dixon Knitting” . In doing the button-hole on the bib strap I was asked to bind off 2 stitches in the center of the strap. Now I need to Cast off two stitches on the next row. How do I cast off stitches?

Bind off and cast off are two different terms for the same thing.

MY favorite bind-off is this: Knit the first stitch to be bound off. Return the stitch to the left needle. Knit one stitch through the back loops of the first and second stitches. Return the stitch to the left needle. Knit through the back loop of that plus the next stitch. Continue across the stitches to be bound off.

The reason that’s my favorite bind-off is that it is super stretchy. Sometimes–usually–the “bring the second stitch over the first stitch” bind-off is just too tight for my personal preference. However, buttonholes are the exception–they are firmer with that method.
