What are good websites for knitting patterns that use circular needles?

March 4th, 2010 · 5 Comments · Knitting On Circular Needles

I am a teen and I just got a set of circular needles.
Preferably sites that don’t require registration
Thanks : )
i have been knitting for 5 years and i got a set that has circular needles size 2-12 and you screw those onto either the plastic part that is 12 16 20 or 20 inches long

Circular needles are multi functional.

You can use them to knit circular or flat pieces. You can use two needles to knit small tubular items (like socks) or when you’re decreasing for a hat.

Some of my favorite sites (that are free w/ no registration) are:

http://www.knittingpatterncentral.com/directory.php

Also, a great resource is Ravelry.com. It is 100% free to sign up and use the entire website, but you do need to register/sign-in to this site, but it has been a great asset to me. It’s a place for knitters, crocheters, designers, spinners, and dyers to keep track of their yarn, tools, and pattern information, and look to others for ideas and inspiration. And it’s also a great way to connect/network with others in your area or around the world.

They have a HUGE resource for patterns (free and paid patterns).

You can use circular needles to knit flat items too, I use them exclusively because they are easier on my wrists (I have carpel tunnel syndrome).

I like lionbrand.com for it’s collection of free patterns from very easy to complex. They do ask for you to register, however it is just your email address. They also do a knitting newsletter and some podcasts that you might find interesting.

There is also a very good site called knittinghelp.com that may help with some techniques such as color changes when knitting in the round.

Wow, there are tons of patterns out there for circular knitting! Just google knitting patterns or knitting in the round, or circular knitting.

What size are your needles? Depending upon their length, will determine how you can use them. If they are only 16", you can make hats. If they are larger, you can use them for sweater bodies and you can also use them to make flat things, which I do all the time. You don’t have to worry about keeping track of two needles! They are so much more compact to pack and carry around too!

Here’s a few sites to get you started:

Also, there is a wonderful online community strictly for knitters and crochet artists. It’s called Ravelry.com. You can join there and find groups on just about anything you want and there are tons of patterns and sharing there.

Please feel free to message me if you have any more knitting questions. I’ve been knitting for over 10 yrs now. It’s my passion!

Any pattern can be knit on circulars, for flat patterns you just turn when you get to the end of the row. Yes, it takes a little practice, so it’s always a good idea to put a marker at the end of the row so you remember at first.
